You can take a train from Bangkok to the Bridge on the River Kwai. If you want to do it all in one day then you need to take the 07:25 train from Bangkok Thonburi Station. You arrive in Kanchanaburi at 10:25. The ticket costs around 100 Baht.
The Erawan Waterfall has hundreds of little turquoise pools. You can swim in most of them. This is the seventh tier pool at the very top of the falls . The waterfall has seven tiers; the first few are pretty easy to get to, but the upper tiers require a bit more of a hike.

Although the film was shot in Sri Lanka, the Bridge on the River Kwai is real, and is still used by local passenger trains from Bangkok to Nam Tok. For anyone interested in 20th century history, a visit to Kanchanaburi and the infamous Death Railway is a must.
It’s a lovely safe environment here, the worst that could happen is they could fall in the river . They can swim . River Kwai fisherman, we see him drying his catch in the sun later.
Catch the local bus The drive to Erawan National Park is scenic and lasts at least 45 minutes to an hour, depending on weather conditions and traffic. The bus will bring you directly to the entrance of the falls where the trek to the waterfalls starts.
The Bangkok to Kanchanaburi train takes about 2.5 hours , so the journey doesn’t drag on and get tedious.
Kanchanaburi is perfectly ok, you wouldn’t know there had been any problems near the border. Have just returned from a 3 day golf trip and the place is deserted.
Train . Trains to Kanchanaburi depart at 07:50 and 13:55 from Thonburi (aka Bangkok Noi) Station in Bangkok , located on the west side of the Chao Phraya River. Tell taxi drivers “Sathanee Rot Fai Thon Buri/ Bangkok Noi” or else they may take you to Krung Thonburi BTS Skytrain Station.
