Operated by Airports of Thailand, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport was opened in 2006 to replace Don Mueang Airport and is the main international gateway to Bangkok.
Bangkok has two airports – Suvarnabhumi Airport ( BKK ) and Don Mueang Airport ( DMK ).
Don Mueang International Airport is the closest airport to the city centre, in Bangkok. It is 26 kilometres from central Bangkok where all the top attractions are located.
Commercial passenger flights will be allowed to operate flights landing at international airports across the country, including Bangkok , Samutprakarn, Chiang Mai and Phuket. All other passengers will not be allowed entry as authorities work to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Which Bangkok airport is better connected to the city center? Suvarnabhumi Airport is not as close to Bangkok City center as Don Mueang Airport but the main airport of Bangkok is better connected to the city by public transportation.
Don Mueang International Airport ( DMK ) is closest to Bangkok city center. BUT, Suvarnabhumi International Airport ( BKK ) is better connected to the city center transport-wise via the Airport Rail Link.
Taxi rates between BKK and DMK or vice versa should run approximately 350- 450 baht . There will be some small toll fees in addition to the fare (approx 60-65 thb). There is a public bus (#554 & #555) that runs between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Muang Airport.
Shuttle bus from Don Muang to Suvarnabhumi starts running at 5:00 and the last bus leaves at midnight. Depending on the time of the day, shuttle buses depart every 12 to 30 minutes. The trip from DMK to BKK normally takes approximately 50-60 minutes but it can take up to 2 hours if the traffic conditions are harsh.

The most direct route is via the raised freeway between, which incurs toll of 70 Baht and airport tax of 50 Baht – total 120 Baht (approx $4.)
