As for Krabi town , it is a relaxed place with great food. People do treat it as a staging point. There is nothing much to keep you there but it is pleasant and a good place to visit . I find the town charming and relaxed.
Even though we greatly wished we could have stayed longer, 3 days was just enough time to visit some islands, get to know the villages and people and see beautiful sunsets. If you’re planning a trip to Thailand and Krabi is on your list of places to go, here is the itinerary of our 3 days in Krabi .

Sure, there are certain things which will cost you more in one place than another, and Krabi will maybe have more choice at the lower end of the price scale while Phuket offers more at the upper end of it, but food, drinks, accommodation, transport and attractions are all effectively equal in cost.
Krabi area or Phi Phi ? Well Railay/Ton Sai is visually more spectacular and has fewer hassles than Phi Phi . But snorkelling off the beach is not as good (although your Phi PHi daytrip from Krabi will take in the good snorkelling spots and visually spectacular areas).
Krabi is famed for its breathtaking karst landscape, and Tiger Cave Temple, or Wat Tham Suea in Thai, is a series of temples that includes a stunning Buddha statue just a mere 1,247 steps up to the summit of a mountain.
Krabi is slightly more expensive than other areas in Thailand ; however prices in general are much, much lower than in the West.
Which is better Phuket or Krabi ? A. If you are looking for a well-developed place with all the facilities then Phuket is the place to be. On the other hand, if you want to enjoy the bucolic nature and laze around in the natural setting then Krabi is the best choice.
The best Krabi itineraries. Travel agents will of course sell a 3 night stay in Krabi as “ 3 nights / 4 days ” but in reality, flight times mean you will only get 2 clear days in which to do activities. So the proposed itineraries reflect this, with 2 full days of excursions.
Safety in Krabi and Phi Phi. Krabi Province is a safe place for extensive travel. However, like many popular tourist spots, there are random pickpockets in action, although Krabi has a much lower crime rate than Phuket or Bangkok. Problems can be avoided by acting sensibly and exercising caution at all times.
There are many small massage shops in Krabi City and the Ao Nang area and most feature basic treatment rooms and offer standard Thai, foot and oil massage. Prices are pretty much the same, starting from about 200 – 300 baht per hour for a standard Thai massage.
Unless you are staying at a five star resort, formal clothes are rarely necessary – Krabi is very laidback and casual dress (though not swimwear) is acceptable everywhere. Laundry services are widely available at around 35-40 Baht per kilo. Sunglasses are a must – the sun is extremely strong.
Getting to Phi Phi Island is pretty easy. This group of six islands is located 46km from Phuket and roughly the same distance from Krabi . The ferry is by far the most popular method of reaching the islands. Ferries take about two hours from Phuket and 90 minutes from Krabi or Koh Lanta.
Koh Samui is one of the most expensive destinations in Thailand, and is ideal if you have a higher budget and your trip falls between January and August. If you have a standard budget and are going between November and April, Krabi is a better bet.
Bali is one of the top-rated travel destinations in the world and is known for spirituality, wellness and tranquillity; while Phuket is Thailand’s best-kept secret, boasting miles of beautiful beaches, rainforests and cultural sites.
