Koh Lipe is a small L-shaped island located in the southern Thailand’s Satun Province near the Thailand/Malaysia border. It belongs to the Adang-Rawi Archipelago, situated on the outskirts of the Tarutao National Marine Park .
You can take a boat from Kuah Jetty in Langkawi to Pak Bara Pier in Satun, Thailand mainland, and from there a ferry to Koh Lipe . The ferry from Langkawi to Pak Bara Pier costs around 350 baht, and it takes roughly one hour. The ferry from Pak Bara Pier to Koh Lipe costs about 650 baht and takes 90 minutes.

Koh Lipe isn’t the easiest island to get to, but it is definitely worth it once you’re there. It is a process, typically including a flight, shuttle bus, and/or ferry and takes half a day. Therefore, if you’re planning to visit Koh Lipe, I highly recommend spending at least 3 days here to make the trip worth it.

By Air: The nearest airport to Koh Lipe is Hat Yai. The cheapest and easiest way to get from Bangkok to Koh Lipe is to fly to the Hat Yai airport . Then take a shuttle bus to Pak Bara pier for 250 baht, and then at Pak Bara pier, you can get on a ferry to Koh Lipe for 650 baht.
There is no direct connection from Krabi to Koh Lipe . However, you can take the ferry to Koh Lanta, take the walk to Saladan Pier, Koh Lanta, then take the ferry to Koh Lipe . Alternatively, you can take a ferry from Krabi to Koh Lipe via Koh Jum Beach in around 4h 30m.
The best snorkeling is around 2 tiny island just off Sunrise Beach: Koh Kra (in front of the school) and Koh Usen (in front of Idyllic Resort). Sunrise Beach is shallow until you reach the small islands where there is a big drop off.
The easiest way from Kuala Lumpur is to fly to Langkawi. In high season daily boats connect Koh Lipe and Langkawi, the boat ride takes about 1 hour to 90 minutes, depending on the weather. You will have to go trough immigration on both sides as this is an international border crossing.
