The Impossible Is the True Story of a Family That Survived the 2004 Tsunami. The movie is based on the true story of a Spanish family vacationing in Thailand when the tsunami struck, who miraculously reunited after being separated.
She lost part of a leg in the tragedy, but miraculously (spoiler alert), she managed to reunite with the rest of her family by sheer luck. More than 283,000 died. Belon , once a family doctor turned stay-at-home mom, emerged from the ordeal a different person.
The movie “The Impossible ” – “An account of a family caught, with tens of thousands of strangers, in the mayhem of one of the worst natural catastrophes of our time” the 2004 Tsunami – was filmed mainly in Khao Lak (at the Orchid Beach Resort), Phuket and Krabi in Thailand between September 2010 and February 2011.
Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor star in The Impossible , a film based on the true story of one family who were caught in the deadly Indian Ocean tsunami.
The film is called The Impossible and is based on the account of Maria Belton, a survivor of the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004. The vomit is the debris and organic matter that Belton swallowed during her underwater ordeal (“Actually just a piece of string and blackberry jam on-set,” Watts says).
In the film, two parents and their three children survive the tsunami and are reunited at the hospital where the injured mother had been taken. A little boy they saved from the rubble is also miraculously reunited with his father in the same hospital.
“A person will be just swept up in it and carried along as debris; there’s no swimming out of a tsunami ,” Garrison-Laney says. “There’s so much debris in the water that you ‘ll probably get crushed.” A tsunami is actually a series of waves, and the first one might not be the largest.
You asked: “If I saw a tsunami approaching, but then jumped in a large pool full of water nearby before it hit, would I survive ?” The simple answer is “No!” Being in the water (swimming pool or any other water) is no protection from the huge wave of a tsunami (sometimes more than one ).
Abnormal ocean activity, a wall of water, and an approaching tsunami create a loud “roaring” sound similar to that of a train or jet aircraft. If you experience any of these phenomena, don’t wait for official evacuation orders. Immediately leave low-lying coastal areas and move to higher ground.”
In many places, the waves reached as far as 2 km ( 1.2 mi ) inland. Because the 1,600 km (1,000 mi) fault affected by the earthquake was in a nearly north–south orientation, the greatest strength of the tsunami waves was in an east–west direction.
Maria has surgery on her injured chest and is mistakenly labeled as ” Muriel Barnes “. She is eventually reunited with Lucas but remains in a highly fragile medical state waiting to be deemed fit for further surgery on her leg wound, which is deteriorating.
Nearly 230,000 people died in the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, making it one of the deadliest disasters in modern history.
