The UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) has designated five World Heritage Sites in Thailand.

Italy and China are home to largest number of UNESCO world heritage sites in the world. Both countries boast 55 world heritage sites each, including the historic city centers of Rome and Florence or the Amalfi Coast for Italy and the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City for China – all magnets for tourism.
Italy has the highest number of Unesco heritage sites in the world. In Asia, it is China and India that house the most heritage sites.

The Organization has 193 Members and 11 Associate Members. Membership of UNESCO is governed by Articles II and XV of the Constitution and by rules 98 to 101 of the Rules of Procedure of the General Conference.
